Jota should start every game once Salah is gone. Diaz/Gakpo/Jota

Yeah I'd give that a go ... and flip them over at times and try Diaz on the right.

Really good going forward today. Should have had 6 or 7.

Diaz motm for me, he caused them a problem every time he got the ball, was very surprised he got subbed. Others who played really well were obviously Mo, Jones, Endo, Gomez. Mac when he came on.

We went to sleep defensively twice, that bit of complacency again is still not eradicated. Trent just letting somebody walk past him for the first, does my head in. Don't know what our marking setup was for their second - why was Jota in the middle against their big guys n Virg out wide? Odd.

So still things to improve on. But really good in possession, a lot of creativity. Top of the league and looking pretty good. This month is gonna be big. January has been a dodgy month for us at least a couple of seasons recently and Mo will be a miss. If we can still be on top, or a point or 2 off it, going into Feb, we will have a real chance.

Quite funny listening to him and Mike Desn walk back "it's not a pen" comments for the 2nd pen.

Neville shouldn’t be allowed to be anywhere near any Liverpool or Manc games

Eddie Howe saying ours weren't penalties as it was minimal contact yet wanted a penalty for his side in an incident with minimal contact.

Absolutely pulverised them. Only downside is Szoboszlai injury.

3 weeks until our next league game. Hopefully Dom isn't too bad and can be back in contention.

Bizarre how many injuries we get. It happens too much ... every season. Grav and Jones with Mac into the 6 I assume for arsenal on Sunday.

Wowser....what a game that turned out to be, fantastic entertainment on a lousy wet and windy night at Fortress Anfield.

Well done Redmen, great 3 points and sitting pretty at the top table with a nice 3 point cushion - beautiful.

Great to see Mac back, Mo was on fire second half, we won't half miss him for a month, was desperate to see Nunez score, but now he gets even more chances with Salah departing.

Loved the atmosphere tonight, the crowd were great and were truly rewarded with a great display - bloody fabulous, 2024 is ours !!!

Abysmal refereeing by Taylor on Joelinton who's nothing but a low grade thug with no redeeming qualities to him.

Neville's commentary was dire. It doesn't rake much for Ratboy's bitterness to come out when Liverpool are on the ascendency. Needs to take one of his 'mini retirements'

The guile of him to complain after his team were outclassed in a way rarely ever seen at a professional level. He should be counting his lucky stars that his team weren’t on the end of a less flattering score.

On the penalties, we hear this stuff that contact was minimal etc. Well some of these players. Mo, Diaz,Jota  etc. They are running at speed right up one their toes, finely balanced and it only takes a slight knock for them to lose balance.

The Jota pen was 50/50 but there was contact and it did affect him and because of the contact, he felt he had lost full control and went over. We got the benefit of the doubt a little bit.

Highlight of the night for me:

Jürgen finding his ring, the beaming smile as he kissed it and looked down the barrel of the camera.

My favourite moment of 2024 already!

      Great game! Some fantastic plays!
A little too much drama, way too many chances not converted - but okay, let's stay calm and just scratch that off as unfortunate!
Not too much to complain about where we are at the moment!
We have it in us if we can maintain momentum and keep building, especially through these next couple of weeks...

I LOVED seeing Robbo sitting in the crowd. Maybe the rumors of him coming back to Liverpool are true. I think he had a few good matches in his legs.

They won the bookings 5-3. Two petty bookings for us. Taylor overreacting. Given the condition the tackling was OK. Joelinton puts himself about but nothing really malicious.

The energy we put into it was incred. Newcastle battled well and I've seen teams collapse under that sort of energised performance. We were almost unstoppable in the second half such was our determination. Keep that level of energy and determination without Mo then we will be still well in contention when Mo comes back.
