I am the first usually to abide by the mantra of 'in Rafa we trust' but serious questions need to be asked about players,tactics and very bizarre reluctance to make substitutions when needed, granted the win is all that matters but if this sort of game repeats itself we may not be so lucky next time.
Also far be it from me to start a witch hunt but Voronin was appalling and whilst we are forced to play players of his standard in our first team the league will remain as elusive as ever.

Next up is Man City, after that poor performance we need a kick in the pants if we want to get 3 points from Man City. The main problem was Voronin, just didn't look like he did at the start of the season.

The likes of Voronin & the tactics played were very poor today and it's a feeling I've had for a while.

Rafa need to sort out who's our best 11 now.  Certainly Voronin isn't worth a shout.

I feel Babel needs to be played more as with Kuyt too.  Alonso's not fit & Mascherano looks a lot better than Alonso in the Centre of Midfield.

As Reecipicheep said earlier, skin of our teeth today.  Not good enough if we want to win the League this season.

I have to say the passing was poor, i counted over 7 times we kicked the ball wayward, Riise, Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel, Vornon MORE THAN ONCE, But fu** it we won!!!! GET IN THERE

We need to perform better than that against a team bottom of the league. I know they have a new manager and have it all to play for but if expect ourselves to realistically challenge for the title, today's score should have been at least 3-0 and Derby should have been taught a lesson. It seems to be a pattern against the poorer sides, I'm not sure if Rafa takes it for granted that we shouldn't have problems or whteher he tries too hard tactically. Against the poorer sides you don't need to amend your team to their strengths and weaknesses, you just need to put out a cohesive, "best" eleven and motivate them properly. There is no way you should be making Derby look like they know what they are doing, never mind letting them do it.

No control in the Midfield, we couldnt hold onto the ball, which meant the passing and service to the strikers was crap...
we couldnt build pressure, and it turned into a hit and hope affair... not good

once again its captain fantasic that gets us out of trouble
