Im sorry but we have had our chances already. The week that Bolton beat Manchester, the week that Arsenal drew with Portsmouth, the week that Manchester lost to West Ham etc etc. We havnt taken our chances and if we aren't now what makes you so sure we will from now on. We had our chances and didnt take them, 08/09 will be a better year when Rafa is still at the helm and a much better squad of new and improved players. Im not saying to look to next season already but we will be more prepared next season. This season is all about getting as much points as possible and sustaining pressure and capitalising on it. So far we havent done it and its something Rafa should look at.

Even if we had some of our chances, who says there won't be more. The top 3 will drop points, that's only normal. And i'm not certain that we are going to take those chances, i'm just hoping we will.
08/09 will be a better season . Yes, we will be more prepared. But didn't we think the same would be with this season(title challenge etc.), and now it's kind of dissapointing. I hope it will be, we'll just have to see.

Early days Ferguson nearly got the boot trying to achieve it, Mourhino did and still got sacked, and Wenger has lost the plot trying to wrestle the league back, what I mean is we are not trying to win the Saturday morning Cubs scout league here we are after the toughest league in Europe and there is a price to pay before you can achieve that goal. Some clubs like Chelsea and Blackburn have tried by passing the hard work route and have opted for "Visa" instead, but as Blackburn have and Chelsea will find out without good foundations your palace will soon come tumbling down and you will be back where you started if things aren't done properly.

Our foundations are being laid for a long and constant assault at the title and whilst we have hiccups like last night the good times by far outweigh the bad and our time will come again. A good clutch of Europes youngsters have already been signed and the reserves are at last challenging for there title again, this is always a good sign as whenever we won the league we always seemed to win the Central league as well, foundations you see.

I have never boo'd the reds in my life and to anyone who has why? what do they owe you?...yes I have gone home pissed off (resolution gone! ;D) and down about games but thats just the dissapointment of the moment and soon fades into "right who have we got next?" Rafa is the right man but he will make mistakes we just have to have patience and hang on while he gets it right, and he will!!

Rafa needs more time... and he should get it... and he will with our help.

Our young lads look the biz, we will compete with Arsenal and Chavski and Manure on all fronts, one day very soon.

Rafa has significantly moved the club forward and there is more in the tank.

Last night was a bad day in the office for Rafa. No more, no less.

I felt as low last night as I did after the manc game. So so frustrating a poor clearence by us gives them a goal poor finishing and some decent goalkeeping by an ex red (typical) prevents us being out of sight by then. When was the last time we got played off the park I cant remember but still we are 12 points off the top game in hand or not.

I reckon we dropped 14 points this season that we didnt deserve to drop or shouldnt have dropped

      Chelsea draw dropped 2 points
      Birmingham draw dropped 2 points
      spurs draw dropped 2 points
      Wigan draw dropped 2 points
man city draw dropped 2 points
man utd loss dropped 1 point
reading loss dropped 3 points as we should be beating them

And 9 of them points are from games at Anfield.

Major set back but we have to pick ourselves up and concentrate on getting the results that will make us finish in the top 4 if not the title we need to go on a good run because City and Everton are playing well, and if we arent careful we could find ourselves in the Uefa cup next season. So lets get behind the team and show our support not just in the Champions League games but every game until the end of the season.

Think we need a reality check and to take stock of what it is Rafa is trying to do here!! It took people like Wenger and Ferguson 5 years at least to get things on track and look at the rewards they are reaping now!!

I was as disappointed as anyone last night but we need to be realistic. Granted, we should beat teams like Wigan but opposition teams are allowed to have good games and if it wasn't for Chris Kirkland and a pretty solid defensive performance we would have won. Not to mention a decent strike from Titus "Bumble"!!!

Rafa is the right man for the job and as has been said on previous posts the players need to stand up and start to take responsibility. I do believe however that we are moving in the right direction!!

Two fantastic posts! Wish a few more people would take stock of your words and lighten up!

At the end of the day, dwelling on the result isn't going to change it. Simply check on our next match and look forward to a good 90 minutes football! ;)

Alright, maybe the league is out of reach now. But we're hardly dead and buried. The way some people are talking is scandalous! People read too much into what the papers spout and it isn't healthy! It's the type of stuff you hear from the fickle b*stards at Newcastle!

What we don't want to do is stoop to the levels you see at Chelsea, Newcastle and United! Booing when things aren't going your way! :-\ It's not what Liverpool is about! I'd still be behind the side if we were relegated! (Although that's a load of me arse as it's never going to happen! ;)) Shape up, get behind the side or do us all a favour and do one!

Here I am 24 hours after kick off absolutely gutted. I lost my Internet connection and with it live commentary from .TV, no chance of watching the game via a live stream on the Net and obviously no Forum. To top it all I tried to contact 3 Reds to find out the score, no answer! Eventually a response from Eddie, thanks mate. A redirected call and some live match info from MsGerrard (thanks again, I appreciate that)  ;) 1-0 looked OK if a little unbelievable, should have been at least 3-0! Then a typing error on 80mins from MsGerrard said 1-1... surely not?! 1-1 at home to 3rd from bottom Wigan? Another text from a Red in Brighton confirmed the gloom and doom.

Draw number 8 and 16 points dropped so far this season... not good and I hate to admit it but not title winning form. I may have to eat my own words with that statement come the end of the season and if it comes back to bite me on the arse I will happily live with that but I'm being brutally harsh and realistic. Seeing is believing and unless we can string some decent results together consistently we will be scrapping for 4th place. 94 points on offer from 18 games with 9th placed Blackburn 5 points / 2 wins behind us... and the small matter of 10th placed West Ham 9 points behind - with a game in hand - against us!

Are we going to rely on other teams to hopefully drop points (which will help us no end). We must finish teams off with the true potential in our squad or pay the price.
This is Liverpool FC... but not as we know it (or like it).

And just to add... my response is from frustration and disappointment.  :f_steam:
I believe Rafa and his back room staff are doing their best to address what is a roller coaster season.
Unlike teams above us in the league (other than Arsenal) we have only lost 2 league game this season so far.
We have the 3rd best Goal Difference in the league, 5 behind Arsenal, 6 behind the Mancs.
The difference comes down to the simple fact of games drawn and not won, points dropped not gained - that's obvious. Keep the faith, it ain't over til 4.45pm (+ stoppage time) on the 11th May 2008.  ;)

Good point RED1028. I try to remind myself that in the 05/06 season we had a run of 10 games with 10 victories in a row. That is 30 point from 10 games. Since our team is obviously better in terms of players this year, I see no reason why we shoudnt go on a winning run like that this year. And then the gap will certainly be smaller. Maybe, because our team is better it will be a run of 18 league games with 18 victories... one is allowed to hope and dream right? ;)

      Sixthly,

When are you actually going to post something on here when we've won a game? Or do you only have anything to say when it's negative?

When do we win games Ed? (joke)... The lost month, we've struggled to even WIN games (IE: just managing to beat derby), and if i came on here giving my constructive criticism after us winning a game, i would get YOU saying i have no idea and to back off coz its still 3 points...
Anyway, in your response mate, ive actually just come back from holidays :)....
Even when we do win, i still post comments.....we have won games playing poorly, and if thats the case, im not going to hold back on saying it...
my comments are not negative, its the reality of the situation.... and it may also be called constructive criticism, in order for us to improve...

Why cant u jst answer the questions i posted?....

I'm a Red and always will, that will never change. I still can't express how gutted I am after watching that performance. Don't remember seeing a more lack lustre performance on the pitch or seeing a quieter Kop, although I have to  say, there wasn't much to chear about. After all thats been said about team selection, Rotation, Subs introduced too late, Tactical formation and all the other negatives. I thought we looked like a team with no direction, no game plan, no tactical awareness, in fact like a team of strangers. Each and every player seemed to get the ball, stutter forward or sideways three or four steps, desperatly looking for somewhere to off load it. No runners overlapping from mid field, one striker amongst three or four defenders with little support. Most of our passes went to stationary players. In the second half even before Wigans equaliser, even though they were still vey defensive, when they got the ball, they looked more cohesive as an attacking force from mid field. They knew where each player was about to run, and gave each other options. We seemed to go through the same channels continuously with little variation,  I never saw Pennant get one decent cross in and it sums him up really when our goal came from Finnans coss. Why wasn't  Babel playing and why where the subs kept back until it was too late once again. The players certainly don't seem to have confidence in what they are doing. The only time the tempo was raised was once again, when it was too late. Yes the players are responsible for thier own performance but the manager slelects the team and decides the formation and tactics. I realy am concerned that Rafa is not brave enough to admit HIS mistakes and will continue in these team tactics out of shear obstinance. I think, come the summer it will be his downfall and he will be moved on. I don't know who to suggest might replace him but if he doesn't change things, I think Gillet and Hicks will say enough is enough. Its not all about money, its also about understanding the players you have, believing in them and being able to motivate them. Being dropped throughout the season can only damage confidence and moral whatever level you play at.  Just when we seem to get going again, it's all undone for no obvious reasons, just Rafa's whim. Look forward to the next match yeah ! and the Uefa cup next season if we're lucky. City won't lose too many this year and the bitters are right behind us. What more motivation could they want ? Quite frankly, we were crap !

Poor, poor performance in my eyes, so yeah ok we have the return of Pennant on the right wing (woohoo) but how the F**k Rafa thinks we can get away with Alonso and Mascherano treading on each others toes I don't know.  Then there was the situation up front, now as I understand we currently have 4 fit strikers but prefer to play a 5 man midfield.

Gerrard was apparently playing off Torres which is a good thing I guess but we may well have given them a 1 goal lead before kick off with that formation.  So after the abysmal result and bleak outlook for the rest of the season I finally calm down only to read that we now have 3 injuries to Gerrard,  Arbeloa (calf) and Aurelio (hamstring). F**k!

Don't seem to remember anyone limping, or getting treatment on the pitch, or struggleing to run. Are you sure they're not being rested ? :lmao:
