Oh dear. Why is that Alex; his poor performances in the Europa league?

Seriously, he's not good enough, how can we tolerate having a winger unable to beat a defender with a dribble and his crossing has been awful.
He is simply not good enough, Pacheco show more guts than him and is more talented IMO. Downing is a waste of money and time, he might have scored vs Anzi but it does not matter to me, he's not good enough and will never be.

He provided two quality crosses in the Newcastle game that Shelvey missed.

He has performed well in every Europa League game so far - he has scored more than any of our other wide players.

Have you watched his performances? his dribbles or his crosses? Terrible.

He actually has! Slowly but surely his confidence is building I think, and is shown by the way he was chosen to come on against Newcastle. The manager has him on the way to believing in himself again. A little bit anyways!

Yes I have - hence why I think you are just carrying on last seasons bandwagon trumpet blowing.

He has played on this year when called up - scored a couple of goals and set up a decent amount of chances. The cross for Shelvey was quality - the finish was poor

Have to say see coady is in line for his debut.

Not a fan of the lad think he is very limited.

      Same.

Although I don't think either of us would begrudge him if he came out with a brilliant performance for us.

He is a solid player - will do the simple stuff as well as add a bit of bite. It's good to see him finally be given a go - should have been tried last season when Lucas got injured.

If he's going to play in Allen's role then I don't see any issue.
My problem, at youth level, was with Coady and Rodden as a pairing.
No problem whatsoever with Coady coming into a midfield three of

Big opportunity for the fringe players to show they have something worth keeping, step up, make your mark in a very tough game and you will be noticed.

If they can't seize an opportunity like this then they have to question why they bother playing football other than for the money.

Make us and yourselves proud lads and put in a performance.

He wasn't any where near good enough last season don't know how many times I saw him and roddan bossed in midfield.

As I said not fan of the lad can see him having a career in football though maybe in the championship or league 1.

Looking forward to the game, gonna be a tough match, maybe quite hostile for some of the young lads to cope with, but good experience along the way too to set them up for future games.

Be interesting to see who Brendan trusts with the job, but whoever plays I hope they step up to the plate and show what it is to wear the red of Liverpool Football Club.

      Good luck lads.

Does anyone know what sort of crowds they get in Moscow, considering they cannot play European matches at their home ground?

This tournament has to be taken serious as it could only be our route back into Europe if we fail in the FA Cup.

I was actually going to post that Andy. A tall mans jay spearing.

Think we will struggle tonight they're a decent side.

Interested to see how. Henderson does tonight.

It's quite empty apparently - only half full for their other home match in the group stage. Think it will be a bit more full tonight though considering we're a bigger team.

That's what I was thinking, given the distance away from Dagestan. Yes, we're a big draw even to neutral Muscovites and I expect a decent turnout tonight but I don't think it will be particularly hostile.

I hope too, and Downing does not deserve his place in the first team, he's the only player I've ever been ashamed of in our team.

      Was Diouf with me personally.

Anyway, think we are going to be on the end of an absolute hammering tonight if we rock up there with that squad (which we are doing). Not really anybodies fault (except FSG of course!) because there is no way Suarez can be expected to play 3 games in a week and still be in peak conditioning, and Gerrard needs resting of course.

Just need to get out of the group and we are in a decent position to do it as it stands right now. After this game though, I think we will be down in 3rd.

Here's the squad that travel to Moscow: Jones, Gulacsi, Cole, Assaidi, Pacheco, Henderson, Coates, Downing, Wilson, Carragher, Suso, Shelvey, Coady, Yesil, Flanagan, Wisdom, Robinson, Morgan, Sama. The reason why Brendan Rodgers left the big boys out because our squad is very thin but i do agree with him that the fringe players must prove they are worthy of a place in his first team. Most of them did play in League Cup defeat at home to Swansea when they were very poor but now they are given another chance to impress which they should grab it with both hands... We can't underestimate Anzhi because they are very good side with quailty coach & quailty players which we saw in the first game. The lads have to show big performance to keep quiet with likes of Samuel Eto'o, Lacina Traore, Christopher Samba, João Carlos.

Absolutely Shabs, we need some sort of European Football at Anfield next season, we all obviously want Champions League, but this may have to do for the time being.
      I'm actually quite nervous.
