Rafa Benitez has set his sights on snaring Valencia's impressive young Argentine midfielder Ever Banega.

The former Boca Juniors man has previously been targeted by fellow Merseysiders Everton but the Liverpool boss believes he can persuade his former club to sell to the Anfield side this summer.Not to sure on how true the story is just we have come back from spain and the papers are linking him with liverpool though.

I would like this guy at Liverpool. Just a thing about that video, at the end it shows him shooting when he clearly wasn't going to score when he could of played it through for Villa or 1 or 2 more players. Hope he isn't the greedy type.

People that are unsure about this lad haven't seen him playing this season, he has been a relevation. This guy would be excellant in midfield with Masch. He is only 21 and is going to get better and better he is a lot better than Lucas. Haven't a hope of getting him at that price though.

We really need a central player who can pass and change the direction of our play. One who can link up and create chances. I don't know if Ever will fit into that category but if he can p-rove that he is capable of doing that so why not have a crack at him.

Ever is basically a deep-lying playmaker. I think he'd fit into a 4-2-3-1 system very well, perhaps alongside Javier.

He is exactly the type of player you are describing Macca.

Ya agree Eem was listening to graham hunter talk about him a couple of months ago was going on about potentially he can be one of the worlds top players was saying he expected one of the big europeans teams to sign him in the next year or two.

Would be an exceptional signing just can't see it happen without new owners.

Lets have him! Looks brilliant in the couple Valencia games ive watched this season, and i didn't even realize he is only 21! Crazy, room for improvement surely then as well.

To think Moyes nearly got him on loan at the start of last season. Surely having the Argentina captain here can help persuade him to come here all we need now is some money.

He's really tenacious and has bite in those tackles. But mistimes them more often than not.

His vision, passing range, and ability on the ball, is exceptional.

Valencia midfielder Ever Banega is keen on securing a summer move to Liverpool, talkaloadofbull.com has learned.

It appears that Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is set to raid his former club to fill the void left by the departure of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid last summer, with Alberto Aquilani's signing having not filled that void as expected.

Eccentric, but brilliant and tireless Now it is believed that Banega is fully in favour of a move to Anfield, despite the lack of UEFA Champions League football on Merseyside next season.

Sources close to the 21-year-old central midfielder have told talkaloadofbull.com Spain that the Reds have put on the table a four-year contract, which has delighted the midfielder, paving the way for a move which would see him link up with fellow Argentinians Javier Mascherano and Emiliano Insua.

It is understood that Liverpool have made a bid of around £8.5 million [€10m], Banega's buyout clause, but is considerably less than the £15m [€18m] los Che paid Boca Juniors to take him from the Bombonera two years ago.

Since leaving his home country, Banega has endured an up-and-down time in Spain, struggling to settle at first and being the subject of a fairly embarrassing 'video scandal'.

He was loaned out to Atletico Madrid and monitored by Everton, but was eventually recalled by coach Unai Emery and realised his potential this season. Alongside David Villa and Silva, Banega was hailed as one of the key components in Valencia's team, who have secured third place in La Liga behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Valencia's financial problems are well publicised and despite talk of potential big-money departures from the Mestalla, such as David Villa, Silva and Juan Mata, the transfer income from such sales would not be sufficient to get anywhere near clearing their debt, which is now in excess of £511m [€600m]. As a result, every player is unofficially for sale this summer in what could be another make-or-break transfer window for the club.

I think he much more attacking than lucas, i would say he was similar to Aquilani and he also offers versatility in the wide positions. I think he would be a good signing but ideally on loan with a view to sign him permanently for around 7m.

Bring him in. He's proven he can play at a high level for a team competing for Europe, and Spanish players tend to integrate well here. If the price is good scoop him up!
