      Andriy Voronin (Dinamo Moscow)

      Quote
According to the reports at German media outlet BL Eintracht Frankfurt are considering making a January move for Liverpool’s Andriy Voronin.

The reds front man signed two seasons ago on a free transfer but spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin where he enjoyed a relatively successful season for the German club.

Frankfurt’s Ioannis Amanatidis has been sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery and the club need to bring in somebody with proven Bundesliga experience.  The media speculation has already caused consternation amongst Hertha fans who would have liked to have seen Andriy at their club permanently, Hertha could not complete the transfer due to financial problems.

Eintracht Frankfurt are chasing a Champions League place and are set to splash a bit of cash in the January transfer window.

Figures of between £2M-£3M have been suggested to take the player on a permanent deal.  His Anfield contract runs out in the summer of 2011.

Instinct says bite their hands off.

Realism ponders what would we do with £2M half way through a season.

Personally If I was Rafa I'd take their hands off, Voronin offers us very little in a way of goal returns, so the risk of replacing him with another experienced free transfer/loan striker is minimum as he can not do any worse than Voronin in terms of goal return.

Edit: May be some truth in this as its hit The Echo.

Eintracht Frankfurt plot swoop for Andriy Voronin: Liverpool FC latest

      http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2009/11/13/eintracht-frankfurt-plot-swoop-for-andriy-voronin-liverpool-fc-latest-100252-25159242/

EINTRACHT Frankfurt are plotting a swoop for Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin during the January transfer window.

The mid-table Bundesliga outfit have yet to make an official approach but are keen on securing the services of the Ukrainian international.

Voronin has struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League since he arrived at Anfield on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in 2007.

However, the 30-year-old is highly rated in Germany and scored 11 goals during a successful loan spell at Hertha Berlin last season.

Hertha wanted to make the move permanent this summer but a proposed £3million deal with Liverpool fell through.

Boss Rafa Benitez’s attacking options are severely limited, but if Eintracht match that fee and the Spaniard is guaranteed he will be able to reinvest the funds he may decide to do business.

Voronin has yet to find the net in three starts and nine substitute appearances for the Reds so far this season and young Frenchman David Ngog has leapt above him in the pecking order to be Fernando Torres’ understudy.

The Ukrainian, who is under contract until 2011, may also have to move on in search of regular football in order to fulfil his dream of playing in next summer’s World Cup after he was left out of the squad for their play-off with Greece tomorrow.

Meanwhile, left-back Fabio Aurelio’s hopes of earning a first cap for Brazil have been dashed after a calf injury ruled him out of tomorrow’s friendly with England in Doha.

Aurelio joins the Reds’ long list of walking wounded with a number of stars battling to recover in time to face Manchester City next Saturday.

Benitez hopes Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger, who both pulled out of this weekend’s internationals, will be fit to take on Mark Hughes’ side, but Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera are facing a month on the sidelines.

"Daniel Agger felt something in his back after the Birmingham game and didn’t go with Denmark after we spoke with their doctor and manager but I think he could be back training again in a few days," Benitez said.

"Glen Johnson’s was a strange situation because he finished the game on Monday and then travelled to London to be with England.

"He felt something in his hamstring and came back to us for a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious and he could be available again in a week.

"Both Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera have muscle problems and will be out for three to four weeks. It depends on each player, but for Riera this is the second time with this injury. "We will have to wait and see how they progress."

"We are disappointed because there are too many things at the moment that we can’t change. Both players are wingers as well and for them to be out at the same time is bad news for us."

Fernando Torres has started a rehabilitation and treatment programme in a bid to avoid the need to have surgery on his groin injury.

"With Fernando Torres we are talking about two or three weeks of treatment and working with the physios," Benitez said.

"Hopefully he can be running in a few days and we will see how he progresses.

"Sometimes a break comes at a bad time because you don’t like to see your players flying all over the world, but this time it gives us a chance to get some players back."

      * Liverpool Reserves’ trip to Wigan has been put back 24 hours and will now be played on Wednesday, November 25 (7.30pm).

The home game with Blackburn, due to be played on December 2, will now be played on Monday, February 8 (7pm).

Consider that by selling him we free up some wage budget for Reina, so Babel can stay.

He's no where near good enough so no point him staying. To be honest I'd accept £1M because at least he will be gone and off the wage bill.

:D Only joking. 3 million in and Pacheco into the squad. Done! I don't even care if that pays interest and not into Rafa's pocket because Pacheco coming in would be like a new signing anyway.

F**k id let the c**t go for free. He's out, if we don't see any cash for him it at least means we would be forced into letting someone else like Pacheco have a go instead, and he would do a better job. Get him out, it's all i can say. Anything more than $0 is a bonus on this F***ing failure.
