Moyes is hoping to build on the squad he has with some freebies and loanies and he has his scouts out looking for cheapies ,somehow i don"t think he"s going to sell the best LB he"s had for a long time and especially to ourselves,in saying that stranger things have happened.

Maybe that is our chance ... I know that it would sound like a science fiction at first, but if we offer them cash plus some of our less needed players (Cole, Kyrgiakos, Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic) on a season's loan, maybe even covering part of their wages, it might create a positive atmosphere for the Baines deal to go through ...

I'd spunk my trunks if we signed Baines.

      Class act.

I am not sure Everton would sell to us, they are cutting their nose off to spite their face, but don't want to help us. Bitters won't do the logical thing that us best for their club because their fans would go ape.

I'm not gonna lie, he'd be my first choice at LB and Rodwell would be my first choice in the centre.

      We won't get either.

Everton are strapped for cash big time a cash deal plus a player (Poulsen for free) would be hard for them to resist.

Rodwell would be your first choice central midfielder for Liverpool if we signed him? Over Gerrard, Lucas, Meireles etc?
Mate, he can't even get into Everton's starting XI, he's the most overrated player in the league.

I'm sure they could resist Poulsen to be honest.

They don't need him anyway if Fellaini stays. They would need a new left back though.

PAUL KONCHESKY!!! Oh wait. Perhaps not.

It would probably be 18million for Baines

      or

      22million plus Konchesky :lmao:

I am not sure about Poulsen, but a ''Cash + Joe Cole'' offer could prove to be tempting for them ... Especially if we cover part of his wages ... He could turn out to be a good replacement for Pienaar on their team ...

MANCHESTER CITY STEPPING UP FOR LEIGHTON BAINES

      26th June 2011

MANCHESTER CITY are stepping up their interest in Everton left-back Leighton Baines.

The Toffees badly need cash for new players and an offer of around £20million could force a sale.

City have been keen on the former Wigan player, 26, and sources claim a deal is near.

Report: Liverpool Looks to Make Moves For Everton Back Leighton Baines, Lyon's Aly Cissokho
      www.nesn.com
Already having acquired Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam this summer, Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish now may be looking at going after Everton star Leighton Baines to shore up the club's left back position. The Reds had been working toward a deal with Gael Clichy, but the 25-year-old opted for a dea

      This is a 100% fact

Baines was at Melwood for a meeting last week  and it went on for 3 hours

Make of that what you will?

Looks as if he got lost on the way to Finch Farm..

I don't think he is worth what you'd have to pay to prise him off Everton. Agree he has had the best season of his career. But he is 27 and for us to get him I think you'd be talking around £25 million

Abel Xavier in 2001 or 2002. Before that it was Nick Barmby in 2000.

Think, may be wrong, but it was Nicky Barmby and a great job he did too.

I would love us to get Baines but can't see it happening.

Wouldn't say he's overrated, for me he was easily the best left back in the league this season, yet wasn't even picked for the team of the season. Lazy selection seems to give it to Evra/Cole every year

Pretty much this.  This is actually a rare example of an English player being underrated and underhyped.  Of course as luck has it, he happens to be at Everton so there's very little chance we'd be able to get this deal done easily.  Shame.
