Just hearing Liverpool could be in the Champions League as a result of Fenerbahce being expelled. When a team is expelled UEFA may give the place to the team with the highest co-efficient not currently in Europe. However - no nation can have more than four teams in the Champions League so all may rest on Arsenal losing? Trying to get confirmation.

If this happens I can see a sh*t-storm of outrage coming our way...

Surely if Fenerbache are expelled the next eligible Turkish team would replace them?

Turkey also involved with a match fixing scandal, etc. Could make UEFA's decision tricky.

I'm already a little bit excited by this so I'll have to leave the thread now in case I explode.

UEFA is yet to make a statement concerning how Fenerbahce will be replaced in Thursday's draw.

Don't think this would be a good idea ! Agree with LiverpoolJay ,  we'd just get a load of abuse , added to that I think we need to concentrate on the league this season as we have quite a few players new to the team .
Not saying I'd turn it down if it was offered but really think it's best left alone.
We'll be in next year on our own merit of that I'm sure !!

That's also one of the problems here. Only FOUR teams can be in the Champions League. So we'd need Arsenal to be knocked out tonight surely?

If Arsenal lose tonight there will be an English slot available in the CL and Liverpool have the highest co-efficient meaning they'd get it.

Would be some laugh if we got in.

So essentially we are guaranteed european football this season then?

It'd depend on if UEFA wanted to award it to a team that wasn't in the playoff stage. If that's so, I'd imagine it's us. If they want a playoff team, even if Arsenal lose I'd think they get back in?

Sounds like we could be in the Europa without a question...

So Arsenal get knocked out tonight and get straight back in. That would really fuel the media against Wenger in their new negative agenda

I don't want EL football this season

I see it as a real distraction

Liverpool ranking 88.419

Which means that unless EUFA re-instate Arsenal should they lose, then we would be in the CL

We were ranked 5th last year, ranked 9th this year, from a 5 year period from 2007 - 2012

Arsenal are now ranked 5th

Bizarrely, manu are ranked 1 and Barca 2, but that is because of the 5 year rating system thingy I think.

UEFA would love if it was us, because we are the biggest money generator outside the Champions league and remember it is all about money. Maybe I'm wishful thinking but think UEFA would love us in it for financial reasons

I think it should either be Arsenal or Tottenham. It would be great if it were Liverpool, but our league performance last season doesn't merit it.

Now, if they can introduce a rule on form for the calendar year (or since Kenny took over), then...well...
