20 players are travelling to Sunderland, 11 starting and 7 on the bench, so two of the 20 will be missing out on the game.

He's dying to be a part of the 18 who will be involved, and I can't blame him. With our lack of attacking options, IMO he absolutely has to be at least a substitute, because if one of attackers gets (god forbid) injured, we need cover.

And I actually think he has more than enough quality to be pushing for a first team spot.

Still can't get excited about this though.

pretty good line-up that. Works for me. Big game in my house is this as the mrs is Sunderland and father in law is Sunderland to the bone! Althgouh the game has lost it's sheen with the events of this week. Hard to predict the outcome. We'll start winning games when we stop losing the ball in dangerous areas and shipping stupid goals. Is today the day that happens? Not so sure meself. I reckon it'll be a 1-1 draw.

 I'd take a point all day long, I'm still not entirely convinced that this isn't going to be an incredibly difficult season for us. The squad looks wafer thin, Gerrard doesn't look like he's capable of digging us out of the sh*t on a weekly basis anymore, and we're bedding in a new style. I would leave Sahin out and play Shelvey to give us legs, and I'd bench Borini to give us an option later. I'd also play more of a 4-5-1 than a 4-3-3.

 0-0 wouldn't be a bad effort at all given all that's gone before.

This is a massive game today, for obvious reasons.

There should be no need for a team talk today, they know what they have to do.

He means that by kick off, the 20 man squad must be whittled down to a 18 man squad. (They have to have 20 players ready the day before in case of injury etc.)

So 2 players will not make that squad. When he says 'finally' that's just bad english.
