So Lerby is due to land at Manchester for talks - we are dealing with him at the moment, not Moratti or Sneijder.

If we cannot come to an agreement with him on wages both parties will walk away.

I never said they didn't, did I? I do however think that it would be weird considering the things Moratti just said after his talk with Sneijder, if there would be other clubs involved why mention he's off to galatarsay or is staying, not the first time he's said that either.

I also think he's specifically pushing for a Galatasaray move because that owner is a bussiness partner of his.

What we know is #sneijder is keen on #lfc. Club also interested if he drops wage demands (he's on 90k a week or £6m a year after tax).

In this situation not so much. Sneijder didn't want to leave in the first place, it's Inter pulling the strings. They can easily not accept offers, or not allow clubs to talk to him. I think it's basically giving him the choice to either leave to Galatasaray, or sign a new lower wage contract with us. And you could question why at this point he wouldn't accept lower wages there if we or other clubs most likely offer the same.

Doesn't get calculated exactly like that, the tax band applies to your income after your tax allowances and any reliefs have been taken into account - you're not taxed on all of your income.

Still would be around £165,000 I reckon, maybe a little less.

Honestly I havent seen ben smith get things wrong too much but he says it isn't a smoke screen, just unlikely due to wages.

Let us fans think we were trying to sign Sneijder while all the time not really going to pay what is needed.

Very clever Gerrard talking about it, especially about the wage and how the whole squad would welcome him. Regardless of whether we are in the Champions League or not Gerrard is still able to help pull in world class players.
