Would like to see brendan Rodgers go if we don't win this.  His lineups are rediculous. I would have gone with this,

                         Mignolet

      Johnson Toure Sakho  Cissokho

                       Lucas Hendo

             Suarez Gerrard Moses

                         Sturridge

This is far more better than Rodgers idea. Needlessly throwing points away now.  I can see Rodgers changing the formation after we lose our top 4 position.  Will be too fkin late!

We got the win, but BR should still get the sack after that inept performance!!  I have faith that if your lineup had been picked and you had been in charge, we would have won by 6 goals or more!!

In all honesty, it was a very good performance.  WBA are a tough team to beat and we made it look relatively easy, albeit through some world class play from Suarez.  This new formation doesn't have us playing the most fluid footie ever, but we are effective and efficient -- picking up 10 points from a possible 12 -- and that is what really matters.  I'm hoping to see the same team against the Gunners next week, and hopefully we will see a similar result.

Still buzzing after our performance today. First time this season that I have felt completely happy with our performance as well as the result. I hope I am not getting too far ahead of myself, but I really think we can build on this, were as before I always felt we were going to come crashing back to earth at some stage.

Similar performance and a win against Arsenal and I may even start to whisper title challenge.

I think Gerrard felt he had something to prove today... maybe his best game so far this season?

God knows how good we might be once Coutinho returns. :D

That was a great performance. Awesome hattrick by Suarez and goal of the match by Sturridge.
I thought our midfield functioned well in parts, with excellent play from Gerrard and Lucas mixed with some good moments by Henderson, Johnson and Cissoko.
There are still a few things to work on though, especially the speed at which we move the ball when on attack, coz too often after we lost the ball, we were left exposed by the wingbacks being out of position. Against the quality of West Brom we got away with it, however against Arsenal ( Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla,Ozil)... we will get found out.

Overall though, this was our best performance this season or should i say most complete performance since we actually played in the second half this match :)

Lets hope SAS keep firing over the next 7 months.

This was such a brilliant performance made even better with the Beautiful Suarez goals and Sturridge's creative masterpiece, I was really impressed by Lucas and Henderson, while I was watching the match I'm like saying oh come on Henderson why hit your passes so hard when Suarez is a couple of feet away etc, but why nitpick to such a fine degree? I was still impressed with him and took the time to watch a Henderson v WBA highlight vid and it made me respect his role more, it was also Gerrards best game for as long as I can remember.
Defensively Cissokho looks a bit uneasy but he did do some good work during the match. Great team performance.
Anyone critisizing a person for a couple of mistakes in a high tempo match, check out their highlight vids to see what shift they put in, when available.
Luckily LFC vids are usually available coz fans can't get enough.
We ripped a solid team apart there and hopefully this is us just starting to click into gear for full 90mins n that.

Not much for me to say really. Well done, thoroughly deserved three points.

As much as I despise Luis Suarez, he is a world class talent and he proved why today.

Unlucky, mate. Good luck for the rest of the season.

And that he is, our Luis.

From he far too brief highlights I saw Henderson seemed to have a blinder. While Cissokho seemed to be involved quite a bit.

Can't find much negatives to talk about in this match, the only negative is the penalty against us. A very very good performance indeed from everyone.  Had the bar been a bit more kind to us, we would have scored a couple more. Nevertheless, still very happy with the result.

What I'd like to say has already been said many times over but I'd like to point out a few positives here, starting with :-

      1)  Skrtel -  His tackles were very firm and committed and no nonsense in this match as well as a few matches before this. He used to ball watch very often in the past and not knowing what to do until the ball is at the back of our net, this is frustrating to watch,  simply because he gave opposing players too much time on the ball around our box and I hope this is a permanent abandonement of his old habits and long may this continue. The Anfield Iron may have had a few words with Skrtel before the match.

      2)  Henderson  -  I've often criticized him, however, in this match he had fewer side and back passes and always moving the ball forward and the most positive point is he has now begin to put in those side crunching tackles, tracking back faster and harassing opponent players more  and not only running along them and closing down opposing players fast. However, I'd like to see him taking more shots at goal or move the ball into the opposing box more often, or ghost himself into the box into scoring positions.

      3)  Cissokho  - He has provided some stability on the left side as he has provided better cover to our backs, however when he bombed forward I'd like to see that he takes the ball all the way into the box instead of the back passes.

Next Arsenal, they're not as invisible as some may think and there's a chink in their armour, in defence. If we control midfield SAS will destroy their defence big time.

it is amazing how a good result can change moral. It effects players and fans and we can take that to Arsenal next week.  Still not a fan of 3 at the back though.

A good result has changed nothing about you, does that mean you're not a fan?
Cynical to the end with the closing sentence.

I think you ment to put 'still not a real fan' at the end there champion...

We win 4 - 1 against a team that has developed a lot and look solid and for the record beau Utd and drew with Arsenal twice this season. Lets also look at the formation, the graphic at the start of the game means nothing. We played with 3 at the back in possession and 5 without - not 3 all the time.

Yesterday the SAS were unplayable and for the first time in a while I actually fear no one in the prem, teams will not be looking forward to playing us one bit. Arsenal next week who have a Tuesday game against Chelsea. Honestly, I think we can beat them and we will do it well.

No doubt some will be calling for the managers head before the game starts and moaning about something...

This. Completely agree that we have it in the squad to rip them to pieces. Arsenal are playing some lovely football too but are shakier at the back than we are, and they don't pose an aerial threat at set pieces which is our downfall.

I made the pilgrimage to Anfield yesterday, making my 26 year dream come true.
The wait was worth it!!What a day it was!!! I’m still buzzing this morning thought all the lads played superbly, fantastic team effort.
MOTM has be Suarez but also thought Super Skrtel and Lucas had great games and did Henderson.
Thanks to Mrs Gerrard for helping me understand the ticket system.

Watched the highlights this morning, all 4 goals seemed something special. The power of Luis's headed goal from about 17 yards out brilliant. Also the chip from Sturridge, who had already hit the bar.

Well well well, a pleasant surprise- I said a win would be nice, even moreso if we put in a performance. Boy oh boy was that one hell of a performance!

The key, as always in home games against teams whose plan is to contain, was the early goal. To bag two early goals was an extra bonus. The quality of the two goals was something else. First one just typical of Suarez, beating a man then nutmegging another. Was a really good finish too without even looking at the goal. The header was just out of this world, right up there with Gerrard's in Istanbul, Garcia v Anderlecht and Hyypia's against Arsenal in the Champions League- possibly even better than all three. To get that swerve, power and accuracy on a header that far out takes unbelievable confidence and execution. Not many would have even attempted it. Third goal came at a good time, too, and was just vintage Gerrard in terms of the delivery. Good run by Suarez and perfect flick. Thought from thereon in it would be game over, and Sturridge almost scored that terrific goal where he ran in to the penalty area and smashed the bar. Then... an inexplicable decision from the linesman. Even he didn't look convinced, waving his flag super slowly. Really angered me that because we were due a clean sheet. After that Ridgewell put in a terrific delivery, thankfully Anichebe isn't a poacher type else he may have made it squeaky bum time.

Bit good from Sturridge for the fourth one eh? It was going to take something special to top Suarez' header, and I think Danny produced it. Can't be said enough how difficult it is to pull off a strike like that, especially when being harassed by Mulumbu. While Suarez deservedly got the match ball and was man of the match, Sturridge scored the top goal for me (just).

Enough about SaS who were, once again, terrific. I'd say it was our best team performance all season. The passing was crisp and quick, the pressing was taken up a couple of notches and our defending in general play was excellent. I was one of many advocating a change back to 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, but I'm happy I was proven wrong on that count yesterday. The dilemma for BR now will be whether to play Coutinho next week when he returns. Henderson was really good yesterday and we'd certainly miss his pressing were he dropped. I expect in a game away at Arsenal, seeing as he's only just fit again Coutinho will be our trump card on the bench. Can see us being unchanged.

WBA are a good side and didn't play badly yesterday, they were just undone by moments of magnificence which is what our front two give us. It's so comforting having those two in the team. I'm just making the most of watching them week in week out!

To the guy above suggesting Arsenal aren't a threat from set-pieces, don't be so sure. They put set-piece specialists Stoke 3-1 a few weeks back with all three goals from corners/free-kick deliveries. Having someone like Ozil deliver is always a threat and the likes of Mertesacker and Koscielny are more than capable of heading home if we're not careful. Even Giroud, who bagged a header from a free kick against us there last season in the 2-2.

Shout outs to Skrtel, Lucas (back to his best yesterday, maybe having his new nipper has energised him!), Henderson and Gerrard for their brilliant displays yesterday, as well as the rest of the team.

Feeling much more confident now ahead of the Arsenal game. Bring it on!

Having now watched yesterday's fantastic performance I'm now convinced as ever that we are officially a real danger to the so called top 4 ,
Everyone to a man put in a shift with special mention for Messers
Suarez , Lucas, Gerrard, & Skrtle despite his air shot.

Make no mistake , WBA are a decent outfit who will cause problems to any side, as they have proven recently,

I am confident that we will get better and more consistent now that the 'group' seem to have gotten used to the new system,

With Coutinho to come back in we will be better balanced and have a forward trio capable of destroying any defence in Europe never mind the EPL,
Back this up in the Jan window with. 2 or 3 quality additions(and keep the Loon) we will be a real and genuine threat for top spots,

I think we turned a corner yesterday, after we went 2 up you could see the confidence ooze, prior to that when we had a lead for whatever reason we didn't look convinced we would see it thru,
We looked more comfortable especially the Lucas Gerrard midfield, before at times they looked lost and dare I say fish up a tree but yesterday they looked like they had played together there for years ,

It was a complete joy to watch, all 4 goals were belters, from the Suarez nutmeg to that fantastic piece of skill from Danny, that header, tbh, I don't think there is another player on the planet that would even attempt that never mind bullet it past a keeper, and that cross from Gerrard was simply world class, and that chip, again simply world class, had that been RVP or Granny Shagger, those at sly sports would cum in their collective pants and we'd never hear or see the end of it, it was Messi like IMO, look at it closely again, watch how Danny looks up , then just shifts the ball to his left and delivers with perfect weight, loft and accuracy at pace under extreme pressure to beat a keeper and drop the ball just under the bar, again, simply world class,

A fantastic performance all round, only Cissokho looked out of sorts but give the lad time he will come good,

Well done Brendan and the lads, superb performance,

      YNWA
