      • This is our year FOR SURE....
      Arjen Robben (Real Madrid)
      Mar 23, 2009 06:42:30 pm
Rafael Benitez is apparently looking to bring Arjen Robben back to England as he plans his summer spending with Liverpool.
Having recently signed a new deal at the club, the former Valencia coach is thought to be looking at the future and already wants to build for next season.

Both AS and Marca, citing English sources, claim that his top priority is Robben, who has been in excellent form for Real Madrid, leading them to within just six points of Barcelona in La Primera.

The Dutch international joined the Spanish side from Chelsea and whilst he has struggled with injuries, he could be the natural winger than Benitez is after.

At the moment Liverpool are using both Albert Riera and Dirk Kuyt on the flanks, but suffice to say that - despite their recent productivity in front of goal - neither appear to have the speed and trickery of Robben.

According to the Daily Star, Benitez will have around £30 million to spend next summer and he could well make a bid of around £20 million for Robben.

The problems with him leaving Real Madrid are clear though: firstly; the club would be reluctant to sell the winger due to his sparkling form and secondly; with a new president coming in, it would surely be foolhardy to sell one of the best players to a European rival.

Even at the price of £20 million it seems highly unlikely that Real Madrid would be tempted as Robben has become one of their most important players this season.

That is very unlikely to happen, Robben was very critical of Benitez last week said he wasn't good enough for Madrid, said he would never win league because he is to defensive and that Liverpool were only a cup team.

I don't want Robben at Liverpool. I don't think this is true either.

I did feel he was a big threat in the first match against Real Madrid, every time he got the ball he was charging at our defense and having a few good shots. He will give us some more threat but is he really worth 20 million if not more than that. Well I suppose thats the decision of Rafa.

      No. Don't want him.

By his recent comments it's clear to see he has no respect for Liverpool.

These stories might actually be believable if they all printed the same or similar thing but seeing as the Mirror have printed something totally different i dont believe a word of it.

Liverpool To Bid For Gareth Barry, David Villa & David Silva - Report

The Reds will reportedly dish out over €106.3 million to land the trio in the summer...

      23 Mar 2009 08:23:47

According to a report in the British tabloid The Sunday Mirror, Liverpool are preparing to launch a triple end-of-season offer for Aston Villa's Gareth Barry, and Valencia duo David Villa and David Silva.

Apparently, the Reds' American owners are ready to back their manager Rafa Benitez with €106.3 million (£100m) in order to land the transfer targets.

It is also claimed that should the Spaniard decide to cash-in on any of his squad members at Anfield, he will be allowed to invest those funds in new acquisitions.

It is thought that Benitez has also identified Wigan Athletic's right-sided winger Antonio Valencia, although recent speculation has linked the Ecuador international with a move to Manchester United.

Robben, Barry, Villa, Silva or Fred sodding Flinstone, it doesn't matter because it wont happen. Because can you really see the Yanks being able to give Rafa a £100mill war chest? i sure as hell cant. I think he will be lucky to have £20-30mill to be honest.

Furthermore, out of the players linked with us we could only do with Silva because Robben is sh*te, we dont need Barry as Xabi is better and we don't need Villa because he doesn't work well with Torres for a start and we play better with Torres up on his own and Gerrard just behind.

In conclusion, this Robben rumour is just more media bullshit which is from a Tabloid which is more like a porn mag than a newspaper.

Yeh I know, but in the first leg he was quite effective but I still wouldn't buy him. After the performance yesterday I dont know where we could improve the team.
Ive always been a big fan of David Villa and would love to see him at Liverpool but I dont know who I would take off for him, I would personally rather have Torres play upfront so it would have to be a midfielder that has to give up his place, It wouldn't be Alonso because he builds up for us and spread the play, it also wouldn't be Gerrard for obvious reasons especially how he plays with Torres. So it would have to be Masc, but then I wouldn't want him off either because he is always there to help out our defense and he makes so many good tackles. So I dont know how we could fit him in.

Anybody disagree with me? Do you think we could put Villa somewhere in our team.

On his day he can be one of the best winger in Europe but I don't see him as Rafa type of player and he is also a bit of a glass man though he done new training and stuff to help him in that sense.

David Villa doesn't want to leave Spain, he has said that time and time again. David Silva I suppose could be possible. If we brought in one big signing, I wouldn't complain if it was him.

The stories will be pure bollocks though.
