Who Is The Better Player - Poulsen Vs Lucas

Lots of criticism for both players on here in recent weeks

So - let me put it like this

Who would you pick for the starting line up if you had to pick one and what are your reasons for that choice

Lucas for me all day - he's quicker, stronger, and can actually play a pass more than 2 yards.

Lucas every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Shelvey.

Not a fan of either but Lucas eats, shits and pisses all over Poulsen.  At least he has a hint of footballing ability.

If we are broadening out, then I'd love to see Spearing or possibly Shelvey given a chance ahead of both of them.

I wouldn't trust Poulsen to shield a back four consisting of Beckenbauer, Bobby Moore, Maldini and Junior against NorthHampton.
Having said that I actually think Lucas is a very underrated player. I think he can keep possession and probe passes to gain possession at
successively higher positions up the field.

But Stevie Wonder could tell you Lucas has more ability and heart than that sack of spuds Poulsen.

Although Id love to see Shelvey given a chance before both of them.

I don't rate either and cannot fathom how Hodgson is not playing Meireles and Gerrard in the centre. Who is better out of the two limited players mentioned easy Lucas.

Lucas may have many faults but I believe he can quite rightly put footballer down on his CV.

Poulsen is utter garbage.  You may occassionally get away with garbage in other positions. Not in central midfield.

Hang on, with regards to what the original poster said about Lucas getting a lot of criticism recently from people. How is that in any way fair on him? He's hardly played after all yet he's still getting criticised as much as knobhead Poulsen who's played every game?

Whenever Lucas has played this season I thought he's played well. He definitely should be playing central midfield with Meireles with Stevie in the hole and Cole out left. Poulsen should be at home playing FIFA on the Playstation.

Off topic but I think Rafa thought very highly of Lucas and probably wouldn't have sold him judging by one of his comments.

Don't know how good he was a Juventus.  But from watching him play for Liverpool so far I think Lucas is better.
