Liverpool are pondering a shock bid for unsettled Manchester City winger Adam Johnson in the January transfer window.According to the Metro newspaper, Kop boss Roy Hodgson is a huge advocate of Johnson's talents and he is keen to reinforce his wide positions by snagging the former Middlesbrough academy youngster.
Johnson himself recently voiced his concern at his sudden demotion to the City bench under chief Roberto Mancini, though he quickly softened his stance, claiming he lashed out in 'moment of frustration'
"Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes. It is still early but I definitely would consider [leaving]," Johnson stated.
"It is disappointing when you are not playing from the start in games like that. I was itching to get on. I was dying to play from the start not just come on," he said.
"The manager has to make decisions but I was gutted to be left out."
The City midfielder was referring to the fact that he was left out of the lineup for the Manchester derby against Manchester United and was brought on with only 17 minutes left.
Liverpool, armed with renewed transfer funds under new owners New England Sports Ventures (NESV), are looking to make a statement of intent in the transfer market come January.
