Thanks again everyone. Didn't see it coming myself tbh.

Funny thing is, I've not had the slightest urge to have one since. Was even sat with a group of smokers a few times today too and felt no desire to have one whatsoever. I really can't understand what happened but, I just had to have one the other night. I could blame the alcohol but, I've managed to drink quite a few times without issue.

Maybe it will happen again sometime although, I hope not but, as long as I don't become a regular smoker again I'll be happy. Having a few cigs one night in almost 2 months is a hell of a lot better than smoking 15-20 a day every day. I have come to the conclusion that it's like being on a diet and after 2 months of it I had to give myself a little treat but, instead of chocolate or something, I had a ciggie. That's my analogy of it anyway and I'm sticking by it  ;D

Stick with it Racer. I think the fact that I destroyed what was left in the pack and threw them in the bin before going to bed that night was the best thing to do. If I hadn't, they would have still been there the next morning and it probably would have been a case of 'Oh, I may as just well finish the pack' the next day and before you know it, you find yourself back in the cycle again.

I've been on the champix two weeks this Friday.

At first i didn't really notice anything then my ciggys started tasting a bit shitty, then i woke up one morning around 10 am and it was 6pm before i even noticed i was a smoker.

I quit on the 8th day, Saturday night, well Sunday morning i had my last smoke just before the end of my night shift 5:50 and gave the rest of my ciggies to the lads.

Since Saturday before i quit, i've been getting really nauseous after every tablet i take, to the point were i think i'm going to spew chunks. Only lasts for 10-15 minutes (feels like a life time) so it's not enough to put me off. Also, i've heard of people having terrible nightmares on champix but to be honest every night i'm boning different girls( dreams not real life unfortunately), i don't know whether i'm taking them to quit smoking or escape me mrs.

On a more serious note. i'm propper gasping for a smoke tonight as i'm having a bevvie. Nothing like a drink and a smoke.

Go see your GP and get some Antiemetics (no, not people who have a strong dislike for Jews but, anti-sickness tablets). These should help. If the type your GP gives you don't help, go back and see him/her and try another type as, some antiemetics work better than others.

I never used to have nightmares as such on Champix but, really vivid and crazy dreams. It is actually debatable whether it is the Champix that causes it or the withdrawal of Nicotine from your system.

Oh and yeah. Drinking and ciggies is a killer. That's how I ended up back on them after 3 months. Giving it another go soon though.

      Best of luck mate!

Just came in here to check when I last gave them up.
So in 6 months I've had one night at Christmas where I snuck a few smokes.
The drink weakens the will power something fierce.

Yeah, I was too. Was getting a lot less out of breath walking up hills etc.... Am really kicking myself for getting addicted again.

Good thing about the new job that I'm starting soon is that I'll be locked up for 13 hours a day in a no smoking environment, so I'll have no choice but to pack in.

Coming up to a month no smoking, It's been pretty easy to be honest. I even stopped taking the tablets 3 weeks ago because i couldn't hack the sickness.

Every other time i've tried to quit i've used the patches, which do stop you from smoking but then it's an effort to quit the patches ;D.

Oh yeah, the smell of smoke on people is F***ing vile.

      Well done mate,

Now just resist the urge to have 1 or 2 when you have a bevvy, as you'll be hooked back on them so easily. That's what got me and it's so easily done  and that first one or two will feel soooooooo goooood! you'll be hooked in no time :(

I intend to make another go of it and get an appointment sorted for next week. I had to wait a while as our health system will only give you one attempt every six months.

Crazy, it's like they don't want you to quit!

I had to go to smoking classes to get the all clear for the dr, then they only give me 2 weeks at a time, then the dr would take forever.

The thing i like about the tabs though is it's not nicotine, if i missed a day using the patches i was a moody pr!ck. Don't get me wrong i'm still having me moments now but i shake it off after 5 mins.

I've been on one night out an i wasn't tempted, because like you said that one ciggie will get you hooked again.

Good luck when you next try mate.

Bit of an update on my situation.

Packed in smoking about 10 miserable months ago.
      Put on 3 stone.
Suffered from virtually constant heartburn with it jumping into my mouth and lungs when I slept.
      An endoscopy (not bloody nice).
Got sick and had a battery of blood tests and 2 MRI scans with the results of all showing nothing.
Went to a funeral a few weeks back and got myself some fags for the day.
      Heartburn went.
      Didn't smoke again.
      Heartburn returned.
      Smoked again.
      Heartburn went.
      Continued to smoke.

      Conclusion?

I have a skip in my step (3 stone heavier but it's still a skip!).
NO heartburn, I can eat what I want and drink what I want.
I'm so much happier, I feel like a weights lifted.

So for the sake of £8.10 a week for tobacco the world and it's pack in pressure can kiss my big fat (happy) arse!

Will probably be on them for the next month.

I'm not advocating or advising anyone to smoke or start again but for me it's working.

      Stress can be worse.
My doc reckons its the key to a lot of our ills and if quiting causes a large rise in stress he won't tell people to quit.
I know smoking is bad for us, but so is piling on the wait and being stressed all the time.

Wise Doctor, using his brain instead of towing the governmental line.

Thanks to packing in I've now got 3 stone I need to lose but whilst my body's heavier my mood is so much bloody lighter.

Good luck with yours and whatever decision you make, as long as it's the right one for you it'll be for the best.

I haven't touched one since I was 13, and only one! I took a drag of my friends and had an asthma attack, was in hospital for 3 days so I guess thats why I have never gone near them again, even though my Asthma seems to have pretty much vanished from when I was a kid.

You can have a fag* now then!

      *  For clarification: fag as in cigarette and not as in bummer.

or you could simply have asked your doctor for mebeverin or and oemeprozole and that  would have sorted the acid. i  speak  from experience.
try it mate, if it doesnt  work  for you go back on the fags.

good luck in what  ever you decide to  do.
