Fair play to Moreno for playing through that, well in young man.

Hope he's ok he did well and showed at times what a real fullback looks like.

Said it before City are a very powerful team and when they match our movement and passing we are always going to lose to them.

Agree and take into account some of our new boys need time then it's not all doom and gloom and some of the posters on here really make you wonder if they are supporting the same team.

Agreed. He wasn't directly to blame for any goal, but I'm not so sure we'd be looking at the same scoreline if he were replaced with someone who gave a sh*t. I don't like hating on our players, but lack of effort is inexcusable.

If the right back is 40 - 50 yards up the field, jogging back without any urgency at all, then one of the centre backs have to go and cover, which leaves us light in the middle. The other centre back can't go and cover the left back or there will be 'nothing' in the middle.

Don't deserve to lose 3-1. That was frustrating.

The first goal should have been avoided.

Poor performace all around from us: dodgy defending and hardly any real opportunities created.

Lallana and Balotelli have to come in as soon as possible on the evidence of this game.

I think it was a piss poor result, but a pretty decent performance ... certainly in the first half. Nothing really went our way. Silly mistake for the first goal and then the game ran away from us.

I am certainly not downhearted by our performance.... just pissed off that we didn't get a point.

End result sucked a** but think we got something good there between Moreno and Markovic on that left side. Johnson was s**t. Henderson and Allen were ok at best but seriously lacked in the final third. Had our chances just couldn't capitalize. Manquillo on the right for me for now on. Can't wait for Lallana to get fit and for Mario to give us more fire power up front. But still pissed. Expected better

Well, these two hames showed us a few things. Hope BR have learned and change a few things for saturday. Manquillo did a decent match against Southampton and deserves to be a starter. Can, Markovic and Lambert(or Balotelli) should start as well, imo...

This was a "free-hit". We lost the corresponding fixture last season, Man-city are indomitable at home and we have several players to bed in. We weren't expected to win. I had hoped it would be closer, but I won't cry my eyes out over this. We go again.

Brendans system has the fullbacks playing far up the pitch and its for the midfield two to cover them.

Toothless offensively and awful defensively sums up the game to me.

Only players who impressed me were Allen, Markvoic and Lambert. Played well for 35 minutes but after that City ran the show and we couldn't get a look in.

Tough to play this one. So early in the season, particularly with so many new players in the squad. It's deffo one we could have done with a few months down the line. I saw enough in those first 40 minutes to suggest we will not be one season wonders this year. Another tough one away to Spurs at the weekend so the boys will have to pick themselves up and go again.

Was good to see the effort levels of the players still there after we went three down and bizarrely enough, we could have and really should have been 3-2 if Rickie is selfish and burns that chance on 85.

Clearly we still have some issues defensively and perhaps we would be better off playing two holders in games of this ilk rather than asking Stevie do it alone?

yes he did and in hindsight that lapse of concentration will probably have done him the world of good.He looks a tough little f**ker and good going forward too.

Some terrible defending, but it might take awhile for the back line to settle and that is one of our two hardest games out of the way.

Only thing for me is Spurs look much better this season.
Next game we'll need to learn from the mistakes of this one pretty sharp.

One thing though. City feared us early on. Nerves showed.
Then they settled down and destroyed us.
I hope Sturridge and Balotelli upfront can instill more of that fear in other teams.

I would have to agree. It is not coincidence that Lambert comes on late in two games and we score goals immediately after. Not sure if I would start Balo or him next game, but Sturridge needs to have another striker up there with him.

Sadly he was brought on too late , and especially against City . If it had been against any other team i'd say there would have been enough time to turn it around .
