Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea (League Cup SF 1st Leg): In game and Post Match Debate

Feeling very disappointed now, we should have won it!

In a way it might work better for the mentality of the second leg. We'll go to Stamford Bridge now needing a win, hopefully with the same purpose as tonight.

Cracking performance, don't know how we didnt win it.
Our best of the season, taking into account the opposition.
Can't believe Courtois kept out that Lallana shot - what a strike!

Nice to be able to say our defence was very good today. Including Can, who I thought was unlucky with the pen. He is going to be a player anyway.
Skrtel was a rock, absolutely outstanding.
Only player I was a bit disapppointed with was Moreno, just because is crossing was a bit off, kept hitting the first man. Defensively he was solid though.

Everybody else was excellent. MOTM is tricky, could be about 6 players. Might have to go with Skrtel though.

A brilliant performance from the lads. Looks like we are turning the corner.

Lucas was MOTM for me, the Chelsea midfield didn't get a look in. We stifled them for the best part of 90 minutes.

Really fancy us to turn them over at Stamford Bridge. We can do it.

Got to agree with the above. Lucas and Henderson absolutely bossed the centre of the park.

Performance of the season for me, the team is finally returning to that fast free flowing styled we all loved last year.

Only saw the 2nd 45, and haven't seen a better half of footy from us all season, opposition considered. Tempo was great, some great skill and close accurate passing, we made Chavs look ordinary really and they had strong side. Can, Lucas, Cou, Sterling get special mention for me on the night.

Very unlucky not to have won, but think BR will be absolutely delighted with the performance. Excellent stuff, will be a tougher proposition at Shamford Bridge, but if we play as well have every chance

I was a bit disappointed with our attacking in the first half, even though we had a lot of the ball.
Second half.........F***ing MAGNIFICENT ! Best i've seen us play for quite a while. Totally dominated, should have had two more from open play, and at least one pen. They got off lightly, and maureen F***ing knows it. Sub was right tonight, just when Stevie was getting leggy, although it did take a bit of tempo off our play.
Don't think it would be fair to pick a motm today, everyone was great in their individual input, but if I must, think I'll go with Lucas. Outstanding again. Controlled a lot of the play and made interception after interception. Always wanting the ball and getting things moving.
Only disappointment for me was Stevies miss. Would have been terrific for him, to have slotted that one in.

  statistics of the match says it all  they had 2 shots 1  on target, the penalty, liverpool had much much much more 20 shots 9 on target raheem was ouastanding , he  drove panic to JT and GC

Great performance, we're still unbeaten since I don't even remember when.

I remember this kind of momentum after losing at Etihad last season (a good performance against currently on top table team),  confidence boosted, we did so well after that, now will do.

Utterly ferocious performance from him. My goodness, Sakho and Can in defence and Skrtle looking like a different player we suddenly look like we've got hellish power there. HELLISH I TELL YA!

Barring a couple of sloppy lay offs Coutinho was MAGIC. If he could shoot, he would literally be the best player in the league.
They really got lucky for the pen. The meg then a sloppy tackle. So lucky.

Brilliant from the lads tonight, if only we had a fit striker, the little 'magician' full of tricks was simply fantastic, and once again Lucas was f***in superb can't afford to sell this bloke, even in the summer, outstanding, Hendo, Sterling and Skrtle were boss,
Had we lost that the highlights would have been on crime watch ,
A tad more luck we would have won convincingly, but it's only halftime and I think we will go thru now,
