Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea (League Cup SF 1st Leg): In game and Post Match Debate

That was a very good performance against what is a strong Chelsea side. Arguably the best in England.

Their ONLY shot the whole game came from a penalty. That's really impressive.

Markovic, Can (despite the penalty), Coutinho, Sterling - those young players have huge futures. Lucas was once again crucial to our good performance.

Very much looking forward to the 2nd leg now.

Massive performance from everyone. Will be hard for MOTM tonight. Would be Lazar or Skrtel for me thought they both played excellent tonight. Would probably edge for Lazar, brilliant passing, movement, everything tonight for me.

Fantastic performance, everyone played well and the manager got it spot on. Chelsea looked like the weaker, less expensive side this time around.

Gutted they didn't win but performances like that are only going to bring good results.

It just they had that extra bit of quality to keep us at bay. If we had that little bit extra, it would be different.

Not many teams in the world can perform against Chelsea like that so we should be proud of the whole side tonight.

Fantastic performance from the lads, we were the much better team, and should have won it by 2 or 3. Play like that at Chelsea and I have no doubt we will go through!

Man, what a performance, we didn't deserve the draw, should have been a win for us. Chelsea have to feel like they've won to escape with a draw and an away goal.

Away goal only applies after the 90 mins. If we end 0-0, we will have another 3o mins to find a goal.

Great game. I think Coutinho has been a bit frustrating. Much better in 2nd half, but wasteful in general. Moreno also was a little bit off. Been very pleased with Marko's defensive play.

Could really pick several MOM if I'm honest.

Sterling was outstanding, much better finishing as well. Coutinho, Lucas, Henderson all worked their socks off as well. Can with a big mistake, but really played great outside of that. Sakho solid as a rock, Skrtel, his best game as far back as I can remember defensively which says something going up against Costa.

Lazar and Moreno did well, Stevie was a bit slow but still a threat and thought Lallana was dangerous when he came on.

Migs didn't have much to do so I'll give him a pass

Chelsea came for the draw and got it,
but that was an aggressive performance from Liverpool and, Can error apart, as solid as the team has been.

Put Sturridge in that side and we beat them every time!

Everyone played phenomenal. Only person who maybe needed a little more finesse was Moreno.

I think Can is brilliant to watch and what can you say about Coutinho? That boy is turning into something special, Barcelona/ Real Madrid standard no doubt.

And little Sterling with the finish of the season, beautiful.

Rarely do I see Chelsea get rattled like that defensively. I thought we played outstanding. Shame we got a draw out of it

That was a fine fine performance, sadly the result didn't match it. Just can't do anything against a goalkeeper as fine as Courtois - you can say 'oh we need a striker' etc etc - but you're just completely missing the point. I doubt Rodgers has ever had a team perform so well against Chelsea. They are such a well organised defensive unit but we made them look like second best tonight. They can count themselves very fortunate to have come out with a draw. Outstanding performance overall though. Not a bad player all round and not a bad decision made by the manager.

Lucas and Hendo are forming a formidable midfield pairing.

I can't see past Coutinho for mom, mesmerising performance, possibly his best in a red shirt for me. This formation brings the best out of him, particularly in central areas. I don't know how many touches he had but it seemed he was at the heart of every attack tonight.
