Our Formation With Suarez & Carroll?

I think Kenny realised we have no wingers at the moment and started to use wing-backs, so it's a brilliant idea that I hope he goes on with:

Then hopefully in the summer we can get two proper wingers to deliver crosses for Carroll.

Kuyt and Maxi out and Suarez and Carroll in from the team that started on Sunday.

The great thing is that we have some versatility now.  When Nando was here we seemed to be stuck in the mentality that we had to deploy him as the lone striker in order to get the best out of him.  Now we have options.  We seem to be able to play a 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, and 4-4-2 pretty effectively now.  We could still use some natural wingers, but I trust NESV to make the right decisions in the summer.  They have already shown their intent by showing Woy the door, and providing Kenny with necessary funding in January, even though the prices are always inflated.  I already can't wait to see how things shape up over the course of the next few months and over the summer!!

Not sure if the 3 centre backs is out of decesity or its the way Kenny thinks we should be playing to compliment Meireles, Gerrard and the two up front.

Suppose ideally a winger would be brought in and we'd have even more options then but at the moment Lucas has become a key player in this formation so would be with this:

I agree with this one, when I was watching the match and no Suarez on Sunday I asked myself "Ok we got these 2 new players that are 1st team...who goes?"

First thing in my mind was kuyt/maxi...really no other way to do it imo.

I'd go along with that for the home games, with Gerrard and Meireles getting into the box when they can.

Interesting what this club is going to look like 2 years from now, with Carra,SG probably gone...but with Dani, Suso,Coady, and Wilson.

 Imo a good balanced attacking side with the option of defending in numbers if needed, on a attacking front we have even more options with good support from Kelly and Glen, and scoring options in abundance from Gerrard, Meireles, Suarez, Carroll or Kuyt, before we had a possible 3 max now we have 5, my Bench would be;  Gulasci, Skirt, Aurelio, Shelvey, Maxi, Pacheco/Cole,

I think when Carroll is fit, and if we continue to play 3 CB's that Kuyt's days of consistent first team football may be numbered  

Hate to say it because he (Kuyt) has always put in his shift at the coal face.
May have to be a squad player there to take up the reins. Could become the weakest link in what is becoming a lethal line up.

In my humble opinion we need to bring in the best winger we can find.

One who can make up the front three with Suarez and Carroll.

Looking for someone who can switch wings, two good feet , can cut inside or go to the line and deliver the killer exocets into the box.
No. Not Stevie or Glen to plug it.

Weve gone back in time to the three across in defence. We used to have Cally and Thompson marauding the wings, We had Toshack, had Hateley even Crouchie  as target men. Now we have Carroll.

Need a world class winger methinks. Whose out there as wingers playing today?  Messi, Lady Boy, Nani, Ribery, Silva, Malouda.

Look at what Arjen Robben did alone in the CL final.
They were relying on him as their main striker.
Look what Bale did to Inter on his own.


Gareth Bale?  Mata of Valencia?  Navas?  Krasic?,
Even Robben.?

In order to make proper use of carroll we have to get at least one quality and quick winger and a strong and tidy defensive mid fielder.
So lOoking foreward to sunday if carroll can finally make his debut. He and suarez look like being awesome and next season with a proper winger we will be a proper threat in many ways at last.

If Suarez and Carroll are in the line up then there is heaps of flexibility.

IF you want to score and be solid then I would favor (against strong teams and counter attacking teams)

Look at the ability in the front 5. Balls to a holding mdfileder. We dont have one so dont set up with 1. Let the ball players on he park and keep the ball.  Suso out right cutting in on that left foot of his. Suarez and Pacheco could swap very interchangeable. Carroll up there throwing his weight around. 2attacking full backs!!

Thats the winner for me, not the one I think we'll adopt though.

A lot of people are suggesting a 3 man front line with Suarez on one of the wings, but I think we need to keep Luis more central to feed off of flicks and knock downs from Carrol, so I'm going with a 2 man strike force.  Also, considering Kelly will be out for the foreseeable future (4-6 weeks) this is what I would like to see when Carrol is fit enough to start games.

Width will come from the wingbacks.  Raul constantly pushing up to support the forwards, lurking around the edge of the box and looking to hit some long shots.  Lucas and Stevie will sit deep.... Lucas being the defensive cover, and Stevie being the deep lying playmaker.  Agger and Wilson both bring a bit of speed to the back line to cover for Carra's lack of pace. 

When Kelly is fit again, I would drop Wilson and reconfigure to a 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield.
