Broke my ankle 2 years ago playing tennis, October 31st '07. Was a fracture really, but the worst was that I ripped the ligaments completely apart, which is worse than just a break to the bone apparently. Still gives me grief to this very day, just hurts every day basically. Haven't been able to play sport since, and really want to. I do wonder if to better it I may need a reconstruction? Some have told me that maybe the case Any ideas?
Ooof, rough one bigv. The only bit of advise I can give is that if you get the reconstruction, make sure the surgeon comes highly recommended. I've heard so many horror stories about knee/ankle/wrist surgeries. You're in pain, though, so go ahead and get it done.
I'm somewhat in the same boat. Have been thinking for some time about getting a few old fractures re-broken and mended correctly. The one most similar to what you're talking about is my wrist. I've got a callus in there from when it healed and it interferes with the natural sliding movement of the bones. There are times I can do absolutely nothing with my hand (cue Gow). In this regard I think it's pinching the nerve. If what you feel is anything like that... Ugh. Get it fixed.
I'd do it myself, but I've already had surgery this year and I'm not keen on missing work.
