Really like how they build their team around Silva. No matter how good Toure, Sterling, Nasri etc are, they almost always look to pass it to Silva, something I really really really want to see us doing with Coutinho.

I'm hoping we build our team around both Cou and Firmino.

Watching Man City last 2 games and I've been wondering what could have been if we played a similar attacking style of football last season? We certainly had the players, obviously a weaker #9, but the balance is there. I feel it could have worked in my opinion.

      Manq, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno
          Can/Hendo  Lucas
                   Coutinho
            Ibe    Striker!! Sterling

We could play that formation now.
I do wish Brendan would bin off the 4-2-3-1 and go 3 in midfield or a diamond.

It's depressing when the only positive words you have to say on here are about opposition teams.

I agree, but it wouldn't be as effective without Sterling. Would have been interesting to see though! Shame Rodgers never got round to it :(

And I agree, bin 4231 and and go with 3 man midfield or diamond :) I think that would be best suited for us.

Sorry mate but we needed players on the same quality as Toure, Silva and Aguero, players we lacked and still lack sadly.

We'd need somebody with a lot more end product than Ibe to play that style again. He still looks raw.

Ibe did more than Sterling did in both teams last matches. Ibe took more chances, Sterling played it to his nearest player to take responsibility.
Ibe can't be judged on these two matches alone and I don't thinks he's as raw as people say he is, he just has to grow into the team and get to know players movements, that's not for the future, that's now, learning on the job.

I'm not basing anything on two matches. Not sure what you're going on about in the rest of the post though in all honesty.

In all honesty then ok, I do. Maybe my train of thought put into words is crap. Who knows. Sounds like you think I was referencing your take on something. Now I'm confused.
      * Ibe played better than Sterling did when both teams last played. I watched both matches.
      * Ibe doesn't need to be dropped indefinitely because he's raw and we all overrated him.
      * He needs to learn and be on the pitch in games this season as a real threat, which he is.
      * He's for the now and not someone to be loaned out and not ready enough.
Bullet points, maybe that will be more easy to digest.

Why am I comparing Ibe to Sterling in a Man City thread? I don't know.

Can was completely raw, Sakho and Lucas were injured for a big part of the season and we had no striker.

So it wasn't possible to play like a weaker version of City last season.

I also watched both teams opening two games Ibe and Sterling were equally sh*te. Ibe slightly worse.

Well, it was hard for him to be in a position to miss a sitter, since we had 4 shots on target in 2 games.

Nooo, Sterling was embarrassing seriously, Man City's match v Chelsea was the best I've seen this season and non of that was because our ex player was on the field (he was a shitbag), but of course that's one opinion against another. I don't force my opinion, just let it in the mix.

I'm not being bitter, I just never liked him... his personality in the first place.
I will revel in his failings for treating us the way he did, my actual analysis of both players isn't based on them strong feelings.

At least ibe's got the balls to try, it may fail and he will learn to look around, he's a better player  honestly, different ages, Sterling's nearly an old man now.
