We weren’t competing for those players against mega rich clubs 🤷‍♂️

So we've never signed any players that were wanted by the likes of City or United?

Exactly, so you saying (implying?) that it's Chelsea's wages that are making the difference doesn't jive.

In these two situations then yes I believe it is

Can we not look at each transfer in isolation ?

If we are lucky we'll end up with Sangare and Tyler Adams. But at this point I'm sure we'll find a way to piss those guys off and we won't be able to close those deals either.

      Think PSG in for Sangare

Believe that's not actually Paul Joyce...it's an account that tags him in hopes of getting clicks. Buyer beware if you are taking that account's tweets as gospel. Hopefully I've got that wrong.

We don't have any pull anymore that even second class midfielders are rejecting us. We don't offer higher wages to offset missing out on Champions league football.

And we didn't get Champions League because we refused to sign midfielders. We are in a mess and it's playing out in the public.

Time for John W and the gang to sh*t or get off the pot really.

No point blaming anyone for our failings this window but ourselves.

FFP only apply WHEN you are in Europe so they don’t need to worry about it this season.

You can do whatever you want, for me our mangled transfer committee is at fault here. Looks great when there's a release clause that we can trigger, but when it comes time to actually do a deal, we look like a monkey humping a football.

By all reports this Lavia kid wanted to come to us, we dicked around for weeks not bidding enough and then we go and bid almost 3 times as much for another player...we lose out on that player because we were likely fed poor information about his desire to play for us and then in turn piss off our first target in the process.

I suppose one day maybe we'll know if any of that is close to what is accurate or if I just have a wild imagination but what I know is a fact is that we need likely 2 players minimum and we now have 2 weeks to get deals done when we haven't been able to do anything for the last 3 or 4.

Time for them to F**k off back to the states because it's really hit home now. All those years of debating have finally taken it's toll and we can see which side has been right all along. We can no longer compete. Simple. As soon as a big club is in for a player he's choosing them over us. Penny pinching has got us here.

I don't want to hear anything from fsg supporters you're just going to be ignored. If you love them that much F**k off with then and go watch the red sox

We're being humiliated for the umpteenth time. How can we sell both Fabinho and Henderson without securing replacements?
To make it worse, we've shown publicly that Chelsea is more appealing than us, even if it's for money.

His Chelsea preference would explain why they’ve bid £60 million. They are probably well aware and looking to price Chelsea out of it. Doesn’t look like it will happen.

Just have to accept that Chelsea have bent us over and spanked our arses on both transfers. Take your medicine and find another player or two.

I have only seen the Sky report in regards ÂŁ60mil bid

None of the main guys have mentioned it

      But yep let’s move on

Some snippets from an article just posted by Paul Joyce (stolen from a reddit post):

Instability with a 3rd Sporting Director in 2 years

Calls the internal decision making "frazzled"

Says we need to figure out ways of competing with 8 year contracts and the way football is going

Again makes clear the "value" aspect of Lavia and us not wanting to go to 50. The club has denied a ÂŁ60m bid

We were offered Enzo Fernandez for 15m. We turned it down and he went to Benfica. The question is should we take more risks and bring in players before their value explodes

Joyce also suggests a 4-2-3-1 as a way of bypassing having 0 DMs

Calls Liverpool reactive rather than proactive. A clear problem

Bit dramatic this. In fact a bunch of you are getting your knickers in such a twist.

There are other defensive midfielders in world football. The world hasn’t ended. Clearly there is money available. Let’s see if we can find a player who isn’t ridiculously overpriced or someone who only has 30 games under his belt.

Bit of perspective needed for all the posters with their righteous anger and sweeping statements.

With Fernandez a while back wasn’t there some issue with work permits etc

But we can look back on many players over the years that have been offered and clubs have said no to for various reasons

Uh....you realize there's two weeks left. If there are so many options, why didn't we go after them instead of haggling over a few million for Lavia for 3 weeks and getting into a bidding war for Chelsea for Caicedo?

This reeks of being unprepared and reactive as opposed to proactive. Afraid my optimism has also run out. Guess I'll hope that Thiago and Bajcetic can stay healthy and do the job.

Do you think he gives a fcuk, you really don’t get it do you? ÂŁ300k wages for the next 8 years! You need to wake up and smell the coffee. It’s absolutely nothing about it being Liverpool or any other team. 🤦‍♂️

Absolutely. Time we look beyond pride and “we are Liverpool, it’s your loss for not choosing Klopp and us.” There are many other factors beyond this like money, location etc.

It’s no fault of anybody’s but different alignment of fans and players objectives.

Can’t blame the lad - we fu**ed him about when we dropped him for Caicedo out of the blue. Add the huge wage and length of contract and it’s easy to see why he chose them.

      What a shitshow.

At this juncture, we should just keep the transfer funds and rely on Klopp to manufacture our own world class DM.
