Haven’t seen any posts saying a Chelsea bid has been accepted though

If we end up signing him, it will be the same outcome as should have otherwise occurred only we and Chelsea pay more money on our respective deals. Lose lose. Not signing Lavia however and him going to a rival would be a worse outcome than paying an extra £10m on the fee as well as whatever on the wage.

Agree, however I hope we have been putting in some preliminary work on other targets if this one goes pear shaped too!

I'd say its a pretty safe read on the situation. Sky generally aren't the ones to reveal something no one knew but they only report stuff they know is confirmed. With that said, if our bid was accepted from Soton and it was previously reliably reported that we had agreed personal terms with the player then any delay from that point onward cannot be indicative of anything good and moving on would be the best action we can take.

So looks like we've bid 60m for him but the club think he is off to Chelsea as well. At least that's what the Echo are running with - nothing from Ornstein or Joyce about it yet.
