Where do we need strengthening for a title challenge

it seems our title challenge is fizzling out with our lack of strength in depth, and some B standard players who come in when we have injuries

personally i would say we desperately need a new striker, or even two of world class pedigree.
or do we give some reserves a chance in the league, when all hope has gone from our challenge, see how they handle it.
insua seems the best bet for left side defender, but what about our right wing, Kuyt cant really cross well.
maybe some better cover too for when players are injured.

who can we get rid of to attain funds (besides the stupid owners)

need a top cover for Reina
need a top target man, either a cover for Torres (someone who will be happy to sit on the bench...OWEN) or a partner for Torres (David Villa)

and we will get Barry for free....

Considering we have blown the vast majority of our points at home I've got another suggestion of where we need strengthening.

45,000 of those real fans we used to have at Anfield.

The majority of our current home crowd are in my opinion, completely useless tw*ts.  I'm surprised when Lucas comes on the pitch he doesn't boo all the fans.  One of the players should come out and say something about it in my opinion.

Oh and a fully fit Fernando Torres for a whole season would help.

I guess we need wingers that can take on defenders and put decent balls into the box, creating chance after chance.

When Torres get injured too, we don't have a replacement for him that will score the goals.

We need new owners to buy new players.

We need to play with two strikers in a 4-4-2 against lower teams especially at home games where they don't cross the half way line so that we can break teams open and get a win rather than having all these draws to rubbish teams like Stoke etc.

I agree with most posts in that we need at least one more top world class striker, but fletch_rox has hit the nail right on the head.

It does not matter who we buy if Benitez continues to deploy the tactics in the same old same old way. Chelsea were struggling, and since they are finally realising they need to play Anelka AND Drogba together they have started to look more dangerous. Previously they were playing the loan striker up front, and struggling.
Man Utd have Rooney, Ronaldo, Berbatov and Tevez, and play at least 3 of them more often than not.
The fact is you need goals, and it doesnt matter who we buy if Benitez refuses to play another top striker alongside Torres.
It happened with Crouch, and now its happened with Keane, the mentality that there is only ONE spot for a striker means that the incoming player, whoever it is, will become frustrated through lack of match time, and either lose form or lose interest.
The strengthening of the squad is only one part of the answer. Unless Benitez changes his approach it wont make one iota of difference. We shall be having the same threads and the same debates this time next season.

i) Two very good strikers or,
ii) One world-class striker and,

A good right-winger with pace and,

A back-up left-winger.

Is that the same Sam Allardyce who weaved his magic at Newcastle  and is now rocketing Blackburn up the table-I do not think so.

We defintily need a world-class winger and a striker in the rooney mould like aguero. But I think the squad is full of to many average players, and with parry gone will Rafa be able to get the players he really wants.

And some-one sayin Sam Allardyce what has he won, do you really think Allardyce is an upgrade than Rafa?

Anyone think are build up play is top slow, it's like watching an Itailan team play, just to slow with the ball and not enough pace in the side as its only Gerrard and Torres with pace, forget Babel he is to lazy, we dont play on the counter much, like we have are hole team in the box when defending corners, so we cant break when we get ball back.

Definately need a world-class right winger and a young talented left winger.

Got to get rid of some deadwood.

Also a fully fit Torres partnered with Gerrard for longer parts of the season should help.

rafa needs to take risks in games, and stop saying the players are tired they need a rest, and needing to change the F***ing line up every game, fucks sake get some continuity, ship out the average sh*t we have in the squad, lucas, babel dossena, ngog, riera, pennant, trim the squad down to quality rather than quantity, concentrate with matters on the pitch rather than worrying what goes on at other clubs, seems odd he does the ferguson rant then our league form drops from ok to garbage... buy quality players if possible, if not dont spend for the sake of it, we need a better RB, RW another forward, and midfield cover... a lot to do still if we are to get even close to title winners... we are not close to it yet imo

Obviously the atmosphere at Anfield during games- a better 12th player. At least, that's what we can do for sure as supporters.
