Re tweeted from a Mirror journo though. Which probably means it is total bullshit.

Yep, as JD said, I doubt the Mirror have any 'Anfield sources' anymore after recent weeks.

Yup, that should be the absolute pinnacle of our ambition.

F**k the Nou Camp, San Siro and the Allianz Arena.

The word is that as far as Villa are concerned, there has been absolutely no contact with them (and I believe this to be true). The sub story is though that "perhaps" we have had a word in the earhole of Bents agent and the indications are that should it come to pass then Bent would jump at the chance, and that Villa may be willing to do a deal if the price is right.

"Tapping up" they call it, but how many times do you see a club bid big for a player and the player say "really? I would't play for them for all the tea in China". My guess in a nutshell is that there is no "done deal" as such, but that we are showing an interest and so is Bent. Now onto the official bit, where Villa will be all "horrified" that such a thing could be even considered (while they busily trying to tie up a loan deal for Robbie Keane).

Like it or not, Darren Bent can finish with aplomb. And that is what we need right now - a good finisher.

We're creating several clear-cut chances per game and not finishing them at all. With Bent in, it's expected we could finish at least 20% of them - which would be the equivalent to 1-2 per game if we're going by chances created averages.

      That sounds good to me.

Heard that none of the 3 parties have not had any contact.

      Good long it may continue.

It's going berserk on Twitter with lots of people claiming to know. As of this afternoon, I am absolutely convinced there had been no contact between the two clubs. Lots of people though now claiming it's a done deal at 30 million quid. Gulp.

Hope to god its wrong more money wasted Rafa was slated for most of his signings yet had hardly any money for the last 2 seasons and now we have money it is in my opinion being wasted on mediocrity, where's Comollis ability to find a good player instead of these average no marks.
Now I've finished ranting I will of course give who ever is in a red shirt my full support whilst they're on the pitch whilst shaking my head in private or on here.

3 of the Mirror's reporters are saying the deal is done, I'd link but I'm not sure how to link to Twitter. Find their Manchester editor and the MirrorFootball one.

I think this is game on and good to go. Just had word that those who know who were pouring scorn on it earlier are in reverse, I think it might happen.

Well you never really know mate do you? I know nobody at Liverpool, but I do know someone who is connected at Villa. Also, there's a journo called Matt Kendrick who is the Villa mouthpiece who was privately poo poohing it earlier (Birmingham Evening News I think) and he's now saying it's game on. If it is happening though, I'm pretty convinced that from an official point of view, it's been over the last few hours.

I purposely haven't waded into this but the £30m price tag's made me.

Please F***ing don't, he'll be fine until someone or something pisses him off and then his game will suffer. If the price was £15million MAX I'd say take a chance but anything above that please god no.
