Absolute shambles of a day for VAR yesterday.
Soucek handball, Brentford not getting their early goal, the clear offside for their equaliser and then the disallowed Brighton goal.
Until the referees can use it properly just sack this sh*te off. At least before when they made mistakes we could sweep it under the carpet and say it was a split second decision etc. and all move on.
Move on you say.
You might find it hilarious, but there are redmen here who still hate Inter Milan, because of what the ref did to us in 1965!! 60 years of hatred and rage stored up in a fanbase, over issues that could have been resolved in a couple of minutes with a bit of technology used. The fact it wasn't available doesn't help people to move on.
It's only 5 years since Ramos hauled down Salah in the last European Final without VAR, nothing could be done about it, bar the usual accusations of bias, conspiracy theories, and death threats that go with such incidents. Fans have been begging to face Real ever since, and finally get the chance tonight to throw mud at Ramos. Ramos has moved on of course, but we haven't, so that won't make any difference.
We saw a couple of weeks ago the fallout, when VAR is not used to correct wrong decisions given on the pitch by the officials. Those affected didn't move on at all, it wasn't swept under the carpet, while the match officials responsible were made examples of, and one of them was fired. At the highest level, VAR was essential in 1965 and it's still essential now.
